Priory Football Club move to their new home site
Priory Football Club will move into Sydney Smith football pitches at the start of the football season 2021/22. Formally known as Priory Panthers FC, the club was formed in 1998 by a group of local children. The club ran as a single team until 2012 when they started gaining more teams and the club name was changed to Priory Football Club.
The club holds 12 youth teams, a girl's team, two men's open teams, two veteran's teams and a soccer tots. The club have seen a massive growth in recent years and needed to move to larger location with their dedicated football pitches and a clubhouse. Priory Football Club have secured the lease of the old Sydney Smith school site which hosts all facilities needed for a football club.
The scheme was to provide 4No. changing rooms, officials changing rooms, club room, tea making facilities, toilets and office for the grass football pitches created in the CFAS scheme. The building is constructed of twin walled insulated cladding roofing material on traditional built masonry cavity walls on concrete slab and strip footings. Aluminum double glazed doors and windows with roller shutters for security. Mechanical and electrical services BMS controlled to enable efficient control of heating and hot water for use by the football club.
A tender was returned under the council's procurement process for the sum of £997,614.00. The project was completed under budget for the sum of £898,714.00.
The scheme was handed over to East Riding of Yorkshire Council's Asset Strategy department on the 17th August 2021. Due to the effects of the pandemic this was 12 weeks after the intended date. The pitches and clubhouse have been leased to Priory Football Club for them to call their home site.
Malcolm Black, club chairman of Priory FC, said: "We are delighted and excited at the prospect of our new home - Pride Park. After the last 18 months that we have all had to endure, this is just the lift the club and players needed.
"With our new facility, Priory FC holds 11 pitches, a training area as well as the new pavilion. We hope to continue the club's growth and continue to offer all children a safe and secure way in to football."
